AOE 3 : XP only
« on: 2 January 2006, 09:02 »
Got it for christmas. Family computer only has 2000.

lol rotten bastards...

took about 2 secs to find a way round it on wikipedia.

Why bother when all you need is a commandline parameter to install the full server version? It just annoys people.

As Microsoft has sabotaged Windows 98 in Windows Update by making it slower and hoping people would buy Windows XP, they want to move people away from using any Microsoft product that came out before 2001.

Most people aren't smart enough for that.  They're the ones who get suckered into Microsoft's marketing bullshit.

You, on the other hand, know better, and yet you still work around their crap instead of working outside their crap.  For shame!

Forgive me, but he doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to dick around with the subtleties of Microsoft DRM under Wine for months at a time to get what amounts to a Civilization (which has a FOSS, albeit aged, port) knockoff to function "just so."
