Okay what do you want to do with it?
Also find a nice guide for OSX of the net. And RTFM when you get it.

You might want to have a look at the G4 iBook. Thats from $1249. Although you might want to wait for the intel version (if there is one).

Here's the link:

Hope this helps!

Read this
EDIT:Also THE most importaint thing to remember with OS X is that applications don't quit when you close the window. All open apps should have a small black triangle under them on the dashboard. To quit an app open the window and press command+q. The command key is the one with the apple or window on it.

Direct links to the Apple Store don't work.  They time out.

As for the iBook, it should be replaced by an Intel version pretty soon...don't bother.

What you could do outside of Intel, is buy a G4 PowerBook.  You can get the 12" for $1500...oops, you want Canadian dollars.  Well, in the refurbished section, that model goes for $1200 US.  I bought it from there, and it's just like new so you just spend a lot less for the same thing.

I say get an iBook if you like OS X, but if you want a more customizable laptop(ie. you can order the disk space you want) you should probably get a thinkpad...

I thought they were IBM so you'd be stuck with Windows or  you could opt for Linux or BSD.

more customizable laptop

But what if he wants a notebook?

This is a laptop. Note how it's a different form-factor.

This is a notebook. Note how it's the general size and shape of a notebook.

The reason the difference in names came about is that a long time ago, probably before most of you can remember, objects similar to these used to exist side by side with each other. Much as nowadays, we differentiate between things like ATX, Mini-ATX, Micro-ATX, and the Mac mini (which nobody will call micro-ATX.)

So, there's only one hard drive size for the iBook?  News to me.

How many different mac laptops could there be for 1000-1500? Your choices range from refurbished or new. Jesus there are only three lines of Mac laptop and you're going to get a 1.67 or less for that price, period. The question is do you want what apple calls "widescreen" or 4:3?

Hi ... From what I can tell from use's , It would seem I would have to save a little more cash , Because I do want it to be new , Screen size ( 14" to 15" ) Is fine with me , I like the looks that hm_murdock posted , Again its basiclly going to be used mainly for surfing the web , no games or work stuff being done on it , So the size of the Hdd isn't going to matter much , Though I would like to have at least 512mb memory , Something pretty quick loading webpages and A better OS then Microcrap

BTW >> Thanks for all the advise

IBM only sells workstations now, where you may get z/OS, Windows, or Red Hat. ThinkPads are owned by Lenovo now, though you can still customize their Memory, Disk Space, etc. but, unfortunately, Lenovo only preinstalls Windows last time I checked:thumbdwn:. And I did mean "Notebook".  To me a Laptop and a Notebook are synonyms.

The "multimedia" thinkpads with widescreen go for around $799. But I do have to admit that iBooks are excellent too...
