You know how the whole
point of using Blue-Ray and HDDVD for movies was so you could watch movies in high definition?
Remember how MS said they wouldn't
let you watch those disks in HD on windows unless you bought a new, DRM'd monitor? Oh the OS can do it, the hardware can do it, your brand-new-expensive-non-DRM monitor can do it, but MS will purposefully downgrade the resolution on Vista computers. They say it's to stop piracy, but we all know this is bullshit. It's to punish you for not buying their new DRM equipment and being a good MPAA slave.
Well, the HD cartel is demanding that you have a DRM'd HD television set or any HDDVD and/or BLU-RAY player will artificially downgrade the resolution by a factor of
four. Guess what? All those people who bought HD-TV sets when they came out? You are expected to buy brand new, DRM'd tv sets.
The downgraded signal will be at 960 x 540. Standard DVD resolution is 720x480.
What complete asshats.
