The Yankee Group, what a joke...

Anyway, have all of you noticed how much people are talking about how wonderful this operating system is that's supposed to be nearly a year away from release.  It's supposed to be soooo wonderful and soooo secure and end all viruses and spyware and everything, even though it comes from a company that has ALWAYS released software that is buggy, sucks, historically a security nightmare, and is generally written to serve their interests rather than their customers?

Pathos:
I don't know about spyware not being entitled to exist.

Is IE7 gonna allow users to install personal extentions ?
Are window users still gonna click on MySearch installers ?

User accounts only keep the idiocy from spreading to other users and the system. The start menu could still be user specific so whats to stop an application acting as a hook for IE on the menu or wateva.

IMHO Linux is free from virii and spyware because the people using it are more intelligent and techies revere it.

Orethrius:
I just wish someone would dig up one of those old "Whistler is the new, virus-free Windows solution" ads, then the first thousand or so advisories from multiple anti-virus corporations.  You know, the ones that touted that XP was more resilient against hacking attacks than UNIX.
