I think ye should take back that bet because there's no single answer - it depends entirely on the situation.

If you've looked at all your email very recently then sure he'll find the messages in the cache. But usually the messages wouldn't stay in the cache for long before they're removed to make room for other far more important things that should be in the cache, so most times he won't be able to get all or even most of the emails...

a poem by my computer, Macintosh Vigilante
Macintosh amends a damned around the requested typewriter. Macintosh urges a scarce design. Macintosh postulates an autobiography. Macintosh tolls the solo variant. Why does a winter audience delay macintosh? The maker tosses macintosh. Beneath female suffers a double scum. How will a rat cube the heavier cricket? Macintosh calls a method. Can macintosh nest opposite the headache? Macintosh ties the wrong fairy. When can macintosh stem the land gang? Female aborts underneath macintosh. Inside macintosh waffles female. Next to macintosh worries a well.

This needs to be in the moron zone IMO

I don't see why this should be in moron zone ... what did he do that was moronic ? Is it cuz he either can't type too well or can't speak English too well ?

The English part should not be a reason ... as long as it's understandable it's fine. The can't type part ... switch to dvorak ... qwerty should have been put down long ago, the same time typewriters went.

I bet your mails are cached on the server or something maby even on your router :)
but offline only in the program's cache
and if it is cleaned then he can not get them ...

[OFFTOPIC]whats up with every now and then some one says something about
"dvorak" ?
i can type with "qwerty" pretty well
and the way keys are mapped to my BTS(Bulgarian typewriter standard)
it is perfect.

some info on the BTS/BDS and the phonetic style of layout we mostly use :)

it sounds like the bet should be that your friend is saying that microsoft windows secretly stores all your hotmail emails without your knowledge, and you are saying this is not true.

is this the case? i don't know the answer, but i think that if the above is what you actually mean, then you and your friend need to define terms before committing money to the bet.

also, as mentioned above, even if there is no secret caching of your emails going on, it would still be possible to see all your hotmail emails if they had remained in your browser's cache since the last time you opened them all. This is normal browser behaviour, however it isn't clear from the bet if this would favour your position or your friend's. it depends whether he is alleging some kind of secret behaviour or not. if he is then i think he should lose the bet, however he also has one or two points of ambiguity in his favour, as just mentioned.

finally, if i had a hotmail account, i would be able to view it in any modern browser, on any modern system (and quite a few old ones) including freeBSD, netBSD, any consumer distros of linux, macOS, macOSX and no doubt quite a few others. This would suggest that even if your friend is right about microsoft windows doing this, then he is wrong if the PC is using some other operating software than MS windows, and most of the systems i mention above will run on a "PC" no problem at all, same as MS windows (well, your mileage may vary...)
