Problems with Heatedebates.net
« on: 20 June 2006, 03:10 »
I tried to get two people to join, but both get a connexion timeout. And now, one of my regular posters can no longer access the forum (says he gets a 'server not found' error.

Anyone has an idea what the problem could be?

Getting the

Server not found
Firefox can't find the server at www.heatedebates.net.

error ...

I'm betting it's because it uses the illhostit DNS server ...

Quote
Registrar:     ONLINENIC, INC.
Status:        ACTIVE  [the normal status for a domain when it is unlocked]
Dates:         Created 12-mar-2006   Updated 13-mar-2006  Expires 12-mar-2007
DNS Servers:   NS1.ILLHOSTIT.COM  NS2.ILLHOSTIT.COM

http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.heatedebates.net%2F

One easy way to bypass it is to use a cgi proxy or an anonymizer ... for example I can view heateddebates by going to www.anonymouse.org and then using it to get to http://www.heateddebates.net

without proxy/anonymizer:

with proxy/anonymizer:

Since the DNS is the problem, I'm sure there are other ways to fix it ... right ?

I think I'll have to get a new web host. I'm fucking sick of this.

There was another website a few days ago that I couldn't get to and everybody else could, but I can get to it now.
The DNS would resove alright but a traceroute showed that nothing was going past my ISP's computers. I have no idea why not, but it's working now - don't know why that is either.

Contact your ISP. Maybe they'll know something...

Can macintosh nest opposite the headache? Macintosh ties the wrong fairy. When can macintosh stem the land gang? Female aborts underneath macintosh. Inside macintosh waffles female. It's not my ISP, and I can't even contact the owner of the host directly. I have to do it through someone else.

I got a new host right now. However, I'm waiting for the old one to get back up so I can backup the data and send it to the other server.

You too Laukev? I am surprised you were still online this long.

It took my like 2 weeks to get my data, and even then, they were no fucking help at all.
