erm...I have Suse 10.1 running on a P3 800Mhz with 256MB ram(now around 320MB), its actually pertty responsive, provided you use Gnome rather KDE

It's a SuSe live DVD.

even 9 was a bit like that i thought. still, it does have a lot of benefits over other leaders like fedora (much smaller install footprint, nicer gui for non power users etc)
