Just thought I'd point out that n almost never stands for infinity. Rather, it signifies the final number at the end of a finite series. So, it can be arbitrarily large, but not necessarily infinite.

Well 'n' doesn't actually stand for anything. But yes it is often used in series purely by convention, however it is also used in approximations of infinite series where it's value aproaches infinity. Ok, it is not infinity, but what if it were ?
