Cool ... the more they restrict their users the better. (In previous Window$ versions one can just delete the WINDOW$/Media folder to get rid of the sounds ... hopefully they won't allow that either) I further hope they automatically set your sound level to the maximum possible so all can hear the call of Window$ ... much like they do in classrooms here (I love to go in there and turn the volume all the way up ... heheheheheh)

Actually, I kinda like it.  Now I can decide who to run vicious hack-attacks against just by listening.

Besides taking choice away from the user it also means that in places or sitiations that require silence (librarys, early in the morning, etc) you cannot silence your laptop, or possibly your speakers don't have volume controls etc. Basically you cannot silence your computer when needed.
