Especially to X11, who's cure is "USE LINUX!"

That is not the cure to everything. Linux does not fix all problems, and it is no god OS. I'm not saying Windows is any better, but Linux is not the answer to everything. For those who don't want to mess with their computers and just simply want to use it, Windows works for them. Most business that I have been at that use Windows 2000, honestly say that it works great for them. All they need a computer for is to do word documents, graphs, printing and scanning (Office XP). And even with all that MS on their computer (Win 2000 and Office XP), they haven't had it crash.

But for die hard computer users, Linux is great, it lets you do whatever you please, because Windows sure doesn't let you customize nearly as much as Linux does. All Windows desktops look very similar, where all Linux desktops are very diverse.

As far as stability, scalability, security and all that, we don't need a whole nother topic about which is better, because there are documents all over the internet and they all contradict each other. You can't go by any of them, you have to go by 1st hand experience. If Linux works great for you, by all means, USE IT! If Windows blows hard cookies, then it blows hard cookies! But don't go all over with bad grammer and shoving Linux down everyones throught and NOT fixing their problems.

I have seen people with so many problems with Linux they said fuck it and go back to Windows, and I've seen people get sick of Windows and found that Linux was heaven for them. It all depends.

And price seems to be another issue. While it's true that MS products are outrageously expensive as advertised, there are many ways to get their products for dirt cheap. Since I am a high school student, I could buy a legit copy of Windows XP for 10 dollars, and Office XP Pro for 30. And as wel all know, Linux is free if you download it, (IF you have the bandwidth).

I'm just glad that there are alternatives to Windows, incase MS does something that doesn't make me happy (.Net) and I have something else to fall back on.

Also, while I personally like Windows XP (after fixing a few features) and Office XP, I DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT like Microsoft. While I like their products, I DO NOT like how they treat customers and their business practices. It's the same with how you can like a musicians music, but not like them themself.

Feel free to disagree and argue, there's nothing wrong with it, but please don't reply with something as stupid as "ur gay", it's really dumb and wastes space. I don't even know what you disagree with. (Watch someone reply with 'ur gay')

No one ever buys legit copies of MS products anymore it seems, so price is not an issue. But thanks for your great reply. I'm not here to spread MS in anyway, I think they shouldn't be as large as they are, smaller businesses may have a much better product but MS crushes it before it can sell.

Just go back to those companies that are running Win2000, and Office during the time Microsoft is in doing their audits. Then you tell me how happy they are with it. Especially with the latest licensing scheme MS is coming out with. I have been helping several companies migrate from Win2k to Linux wherever they can, and they are very happy with Linux. With Linux one excellent advantage is when it comes time to upgrade you don't have to go digging through the bottom of your drawer looking for all those licenses to figure out how much you are going to have to pay. It's worse than taxes.
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

ur gay!

actually, people need to be told to use linux all the time, sometimes i think that the main reason people don't use linux instead of windows is NOT because linux won't do what they want OR because it's one more thing to learn BUT it is in fact so they can whine about how they HAVE to use windows! there's not many of those people n this site that i have noticed, but i've met a bunch in real life let me tell you...

USE LINUX!
Tech Support: "How can I help you?"
Customer: "I want to lodge a complaint."
Tech Support: "What seems to be the problem?"
Customer: "I specifically asked you not to program my Internet with pornography. I want it removed immediately."

Well, at the LAN party I'm going to, I will use Linux. I'm looking foreward to it too. I can just imagine... 13 computers all running some version of Linux with a Cisco router..... since I'm going early, which flavor of Linux should I choose!?!?!? Red hat, Mandrake, Free BSD, and god knows what else.
