It finally happened

Calum:
fetid103 just likes to post stuff on here about how he's using windows all the time to try and wind people up.

shame it fails!

Fett101:
No winding this time. I'm quite amazed that it lasted that long too. I also knew of the 49 day bug long beforehand.

Calum:
yes, but the 49 day bug is quite patently not at the root of the problem this time, unless you missed count by six days!

solo:
windows 9x doesnt have a way of knowing how long the computer has been up does it? xp kind of does if you have a cable connection you can check the connection duration er whatever. of course logically on *nix just type 'uptime' at a shell   .

dishawjp:
There is an "uptime.exe" for Windows. I actually installed it on one of my windows computers a while back.  Do a search for "uptime.exe."  Anyway, my Linux server had an uptime of over 350 days until I brought it down to add another hard drive. The last time it went down before that was due to a power failure.  It isn't a "mission critical" server, just a toy for me and some friends to play with.

Current uptime is:

[dishawjp@ip4 dishawjp]$ uptime
  7:05pm  up 51 days, 15:51,  1 user,  load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00

Ok, only 51 days so far.  Give me another few months.  It'll look better then.

Jim
