First Dimitri Sklyarov, now David Rocci. Here are some details on this Enigmah mod chip:
quote:
Another chinese group is launching the Enigmah Mod Chip for Xbox. Similar in specs to the Xtender mod-chip, it requires 29 wires, but also removes Macrovision. There are two optional wires to solder for Macrovision Off and further two wires for DVD Reset Function.

They compare it with the Xtender chip, so here's the deatils on that:
quote:
The Xtender Xbox mod chip works on ALL Xbox models from ALL regions and plays every Xbox game including originals, import originals and all backups. It is reported to work with any CD-RW media, any DVD-R media, any DVD-RW media. The Xtender Xbox modchip claims to be very easy to solder and requires only basic soldering skills. A special feature is the ability to run unsigned code, as well as patched or modified files, opening the door for amateur development of Xbox software. Latest news confirm that the Xtender mod chip disables DVD Macrovision. More info at the following video game accessory retailers: (Emphasis Mine) XBox Reporter

How about that! Five months and $28,500 for selling a device that allows one to run Linux and write your own X-Crox soft! I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad they nailed this desperado! We certainly can't have that, now can we? Oh the horrors! Next thing you know, these amatuer coders will be writing games for the X-Crox that beats anything you can buy.
Thank God: His Gatesness can rest a little easier tonight. :D
If coding is outlawed, only outlaws will code
They can have my compiler when they pry it from my cold, dead hand.

Calum:
five months in prison? FIVE MONTHS IN PRISON???
there's not a lot you can say about that, how can a judge or jury think that's appropriate?
can you imagine it?
guy 1: so what are you in for?
guy 2: well i was charged with murder and nine counts of rape, but i didn't do it, honest! what about you, what are you in for?
guy 1: oh well i made a little gadget that allows you to run software on your xbox that you couldn't run on it before
...(a couple of seconds' stunned silence)...
guy 2: (backs away slowly)
guy 3: (muttering in background) i'm not going near that crazy mofo...
Pantso:
This is one of those cases where you don't know whether to laugh or cry.
Faust:
In the words of South Park : "This is pretty fucked up right here."
WTF is going to be illegal next, modding your fridge so it can freeze food that you didn't buy from the "right store?"
Damn that unsigned food. How dare you make it cold when your fridge was *specifically* designed for freezing only Safeway food?
Stupid...
Glad I live in a country where the High Court has ruled mod chipping fully legal!
Doogee:
here here, no literally, here here, I MEAN IT ALRIGHT.
