Does anyone know of any registry tweak that will disable the option to change the view hidden files or folders selection in Windows explorer?

I want to prevent my kids from playing around with system files, and they know how to access the show hidden files in explorer.

Any info or websight links will be helpful

Thanks,

Jim

You might get better help here:

http://www.windowsbbs.com

Or, you could switch to Linux, and not have to worry about your kids deleting important files from anywhere other than their home directory.  ;)

Well, I can't really say that this is the most appropriate place to ask for such information. You could however try the windowsbbs (follow the link that emh provided) or get a real multitasking OS. For example, if you were running Linux you wouldn't have to worry about your kids playing with system files.

I agree, not the right place, but if you dare... open mmc and then load the local group policy editor and play with it some. make sure you chanage permissions of it to not affect you though.

not really, the only thing you can do is keep idiots from breaking it, but if somebody is determined, windows has no security at all, atleast not in any of the configureations i have seen. i regually haxxor machines at school, but atleast im doing white hat work.eg deleting comet cursor, bonzi buddy, and oher annoying spyware. and yes, linux would kick ass on the systems, but our I.T. department is just a group of stupid fucktards. most of the time other people do their work

How about trying a little old-fashioned discipline?  Who's in charge at your house anyway?  My kids wouldn't DREAM of fucking with my computer.

i suggest you get a program that tracks whats happenning  on our comp. then tell your kids not to do certain things if they do then punish them. its much better that you do it now. if you dont then i have to shoot another dumbass punk who thinks they can get away with anything, like stealing or worse. discipline is good for children and society at large.

I didn't say it was the most effective method, i say just trash windows. but group policy should be able to keep some kids out. and if they mess things up then you know they did it on purpose, so punish them.

http://linuxiso.org should help you keep your kids out of stuff.
