sporkme:
i can work faster in dos than in windows for big file moving/deleting/etc.
i am getting pretty good on a linux prompt, tho i am still a newb
i keep hitting ls instead of dir in dos
Calum:
isn't there some easy way to get linux to accept the 200 or so commands that you use in dos already? why beat yourself up in DOS, when you can use linux?
creedon:
I have a copy of Slackware 2.03 (1994). It will install (without X window) on 20Mb, is that small enough??
Master of Reality:
small enough for what? A Commodore 64 has 64K of memory (no harddrive), and LUNIX can run off it... now thats small.
Calum:
re: getting MSDOS, i heard that MSDOS 7 comes on the win95 CD, cunningly disguised as "olddos", well, i think i have found the contents of this folder available for free download from microoft's ftp site here:
ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/products/windows/windows95/cdromextras/otherutilities/
have a look, and go up a directory or two, are any of these files a free downloadable version of MSDOS? i would be interested to know if any of you recognise these files, since this would mean Microsoft is providing a free download of one of it's operating systems...
No, wait, my mistake, what was i thinking! you need the core files from a windows 9x installation, and also some of the olddos files off of a windows 95 CD to make it work... how silly of me et c...
