That map is kinda useless, as it shows no clear religious majority in the one place that has actually been relatively successful at trying to get creationism taught at a state level - Kansas.
Also, just to set the record straight, the loudest cries to get creationism taught in public schools have come from Protestant groups, not Catholics.

I think it's reasonably safe to say that all Hispanics are at least a little bit Catholic, and would certainly identify as such during a census or survey. Furthermore, California has an extremely high Hispanic population, mostly Mexican immigrants. The rest of California is all heathens (the good kind).
