Maybe. In Windows 7, M$ has added IE8 to its list of removeable components, apparently to appease the European Union.

Microsoft said in US anti-trust cases that IE "is not removable from the operating system on a technical level".
And suddenly when the EU is threatening with fines, it can be done.
Thank you, Neelie Kroes!

I've noticed that in Windows 7, IE really does not seem to be all that integrated anymore.

Oh. Your. Gods.
I never thought I'd see this day coming. I found out a few weeks back that they're being forced to ship rival browsers with their operating system to avoid further damaging web browser competition, but the day that they would un-bundle their browser from Windows...sounds almost too good to be true.

so...
This means that any person testifying that IE could not be removed from MS Windows, as part of the US antitrust case, can now be shown to have perjured themselves?
I'm looking forward to seeing Bill Gates up on charges of perjury for sure...

As I mentioned in the other thread, I think IE7 could be easily removed from Vista as well. It no longer seems to be integrated with the OS - which is a good thing.

i wonder if he actually had to pay a backhander to avoid being charged with perjury? surely that wouldn't be good publicity.
