ironic is one of the most misused words of our time. i think i have heard it seen used correctly on one ocassion, perhaps two, in the last ten years.

I thought it was quite ironic when Microsoft themselves were charged with software piracy after having started the BSA to crack down on businesses pirating Microsoft software.
How'd I do?

Either you're calling me narrow-minded here or you're just misusing the word "ironic". Since the word is Greek, let me be the judge of its meaning will you? I know what irony and ironic mean better than you (it's my native language you see).
On the other hand, if you're calling me narrow-minded then you're calling everyone in here the same. If that's the case you do not deserve to be replied to :D
However, if nothing of the above is correct, please throw some light here and let me know what you meant ;)

yes, that's pretty good. now i've made that comment i bet tons of people will come here and be genuinely ironic just so i can no longer say 'about 2 people have actually been ironic in the last blah blah blah...' :D
Most people nowadays who use the word 'irony' probably think it means 'a bit like iron'.
