XP-internet explorer/Netscape question

I have noticed that anytime I use a browser other than internet explorer (which i don't want to use because of the privacy issues), such as Nestscape my computer loads the pages significantly slower if at all.  How do you change this?  I know I can change the application priority level through the task manager screen and it works for a couple of minutes before the application stops responding and i get a dumb message asking me to send an error report to microsoft.  any ideas on how to do this? thanks.
