Laukev7 leaving Heated Debates
worker201:
Forums are dying all over the internet. They're just not web2.0 enough, I guess. Whereas sites like Flickr and Facebook are exploding.
Actually, an anti-Microsoft Flickr group or Facebook group might be worthwhile, if anybody is using those sites.
Lead Head:
I actually find that its smaller niche forums that are doing quite well, where there is really only 1-2 forums talking about that specific thing. The ones I see suffering are the ones where there is hundreds of forums already on that same general topic.
Laukev7:
I am transferring the forum to Refalm right now. He is in the process of registering the domain name, which I unlocked. I will transfer him the archives when he's done.
As for me, I hate Facebook, and deleted my account. The only web 2.0 service I liked is StumbleUpon, before it went to shit in the last few years.
I think a general topics forum would be nice, but I no longer have time to socialise on the internet, let alone maintain a community and put effort in expanding it.
Aloone_Jonez:
Good, I don't want the forum to die even if it only gets a few posts a week.
A few controversial threads at an electronics forum I post at have been locked recently so I think I'll recommend Heated Debates to people who want to discuss that kind of thing. I hope the moderator and administrator will allow me to promote it because it won't be competing with their forum and they've already indicated they don't want heated political discussions on their forum by locking such threads.
Calum:
+1 to worker and AJ. That's all true.
Maybe a facebook presence is the way to go for stop-microsoft.org if only to get a bigger group coming here.
