So, MS Windows, it's so secure these days blah blah blah, Microsoft firewall, yap yap yap, no viruses etc etc.

Interestingly Google seems willing to put time and effort into removing MS Windows for security reasons.
Paranoia, or pragmatism? You decide.

Kintaro:
TCO. Windows Server 2008 is expensive. Google have like five or six times the money available to them anyway, and they are working on their own OS. They will probably move to an in-house operating system. Google love to customize things, they fork linux and don't contribute back, and Windows isn't really the best system to modify.

Calum:
hmm, MS' rebuttal: http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/b/bloggingwindows/archive/2010/06/01/windows-and-security-setting-the-record-straight.aspx

The Reg's reader comments: http://forums.theregister.co.uk/forum/2/2010/06/02/google_microsoft_security_grumbles/

So yeah, perhaps Google are simply making a publicity appeal to publicise its own impending OS release.

worker201:
Pants?

Kintaro:
There have been some serious flaws in Windows 7, mostly all rooted in the drivers being able to do whatever they want in memory. It takes an exceptionally stupid person to install an unsigned driver though.
