it's a sad state of affairs when doubts raised about censorship are censored. Whoever did it should be ashamed of themselves and whoever tries to defend them should be ashamed too.

What there's censorship at work or do you mean at the MES?
Yes, you're right that deleting Kintaro's remark is censorship. I was doubting that there's a general policy of censorship here but when I now I think about it, I'm not too sure. If someone had made the same remark about the MS Office developers, would it have been dealt with in the same manner? I doubt it. Whilst I accept this is an anti-MS forum, it's pointless if criticism of non-MS products and particularly FOSS is not allowed. Moderators should be as unbiased as possible when carrying out their duties.
Calum:
yeah, there's some censorship at my work, but that's because they try and filter out all the sites nobody needs in order to do their job, fair enough, as it's a private network.
But yeah, what i meant was that there is too much censorship on the MES, with no rhyme or reason to it, especially of kintaro. That's my opinion anyway.

Lol, I would've reported kintaros post if his remark referred to MS Office developers, for sure. It is the language used that I found disgusting, that is all.
I am not disgusted for the developers sake, but simply because Kintaro felt the need to use that language, in a simple one-line post about patches.
So, I take it we're going to allow all types of excessive language on here then? (even when a post seems to serve little other purpose)
If someone will clarify I won't report such a post again.
Btw Ref, you can take my moderatorship off me - I don't even use it. But I think Kintaro is utterly wrong about the effects moderatorship is having on people, and the effects that losing that will have.
Additionally, I don't think he'll ever leave, for the same reason he gives that our moderators won't leave if their status is removed.
Also, if you do remove moderators, please leave us as VIPs for the friends of mes forum :)
Calum:
look, this is all bullshit, this thread's full of opinions and people deliberately (or worse unintentionally!) misunderstanding each other, why don't you all just grow up and get over yourselves? As if anybody even cares except the six or so people who regularly post on this board.
Yes, i'm against offensive language (ie: derogatory, sexist, bigoted etc) but for fuck's sake, two pages of discussion about calling developers faggots?
If it was reported, it's because the person reporting it was offended, so yeah, there's a case in that ONE instance, imho, but in this case it was a moderator reporting it because he thought it might have offended somebody else (somebody who didn't report it). As i said, grow up. Take action when somebody really is offended and not before, i say. There are a LOT worse things you could be putting your energy into than complaining about swear words.
Hopefully none of that was offensive to any of you...

I don't think I mentioned 'offense' in any of my deliberations explaining why I reported that post.

imo, such posts should be discouraged by sending kintaro a warning. I don't like his language, and it is probably damaging for the community for a newcomer to notice such immaturity.
