I have OS 8 on cd. When booting it gets as far as loading all the extensions (puzzle pieces) then crashes hard enough for it to ask me to tell Apple. Of course I'm not telling Apple, they haven't made OS 8 free yet.

I'm not including the binary images here because the text would be too long. I do remember one thread crash mentioned being unable to parse 24 bit memory. I'm using a MacBook Pro 5,5 That's 2.26 GHz Core2Duo. It did this in 10.6.5 and now the same after running the 10.6.6 update yesterday.
Any clues as to what the problem is? I have no trouble running OS 9 under SheepShaver except that after I installed Norton Utilities it hung the OS hard and I was forced to get in before it started scanning to stop indexing the drive, then manually remove Norton Utilities.
BasiliskII won't boot from Norton Utilities cd either without crashing hard.
