I have a 160GB Mac laptop and figured it would be interesting to read some diplomatic exchanges. Lots of seeds and in 1 1/2 hours I have the file. Double-click and let UnRarX have at it and 5 1/2 hours later it's still running. CPU usage is high, but not abnormal, only one core in use, but the CPU is stuck just under 80C with the fans jacked up to 4000RPM and an external fan blowing on it.
So I cancel out and look around the web for an alternative. There is no 7zip version for OSX available, the link goes to a lazy jerk who says go get it from a (non-existent) torrent. Since this is a Mac, I check to see if Stuffit Expander is still free and it is and 45 minutes later have the original 557MB file expanded to
60GB I only have about 18GB free space left at this point, but at least I know why UnRarX had so much trouble. For a while there I though
Assange was just trying to be funny and post an unzippable file.
