Ethnography regarding MS marketing
(1/1)
llamatech:
I'm writing an ethnography about the changing patterns of computer use at Northern Arizona University.
I would be appreciative if anyone would be willing to speak with me (ptooiepronk on AIM), about MS's marketing strategies in general, and the strategies it implements at universities.
Or, direct me to a good source on this topic.
Thank you very much

I just remembered:

He's changed the layout some, but it's long and packed with great information.
Oh...and if you want that all on one webpage, I think I left a mirror of that here:

Here's a list of companies that Microsoft owns (not updated since 1999 :( ):

You'll find SCO (investment), Ensemble Studio's (Age of Empires), Hotmail (used to be a non-Microsoft company), Electric Gravity (creator of Gaming Zone, became MSN Gaming Zone, and was quickly made Windows/IE only), Spyglass (Internet Explorer), dbWeb (Microsoft Access), UPC (investment to develop WebTV, but when the company was out of money, they used digital television based on Java and Flash, and Sun Solaris for their ISP. I use their ISP), Flash Communications (MSN Messenger), and the list goes on
