what were they thinking?

What were they thinking when they wrote that? I'm sure some innocent programmer was sitting there writing out the program as they normally would "...I use my software..." and then old billy came by and said something like, "In one of our future lawsuits, which you know we will have, it could be damaging to call it their software. I mean, after all... we only license it to them, they dont get to own it."

Perhaps I'm thinking into it too deeply, but I haven't started a topic in a while anyways.

Stryker I think ITS worded like that for that very reason.  The have to say its so the software in question is connected to microsoft, otherwise like you said they would be implying that you owned it.

We take so much
for granted after using GPL software
