SP1 Bombing Copies?
« on: 16 September 2002, 21:18 »
Has anyone downloaded XP on an illegal (or legal) copy of XP? My dad got SP1 (he dual boots to Red Hat, BTW) last night, and after the second restart the computer starts to nothing but a blank desktop.

Is this because they fucked up something in the service pack unintentionally, or the are bombing copies? (some of which may not even be pirated)

If anyone knows anything, it would be greatly appreciated.

From what I've heard, M$ have isolated the product keys for the pirated corporate version of XPee. In addition to that, the owner of a pirated copy of XPee cannot even download the SP1 as the key would be immediately recognized. However, there are some copies of SP1 that work with the pirated version of XPee  :D  ! As to your question, I don't have any personal experience (since I don't use XPee), but a friend of mine who downloaded SP1 told me that his machine is much slower now (  :D  ) than before.

I have heard a lot of the "XP is slower" bitching.

I think his copy might have been legal...

I hang out over at the Opera forums and a lot of people are starting to ask how to make Opera run faster after installing SP1 on their XP machines.

Fools, Uncle Bill wants any browser besides IE to run worse than IE. Otherwise you will stop giving him all the money.
Bitter? I'm not bitter. After seeing what Bill Gates and MicroSoft has inflicted upon us. I wish Bill would choke on a cheese sandwich and put us out of his misery.

with SP1 in XPEE (heh heh I like that) if you have a dual boot in the O/S Service pack 1 will not install because of the Superior O/S Linux

as a matter of fact I believe this is in the M$ EULA thatno other operating systems is allowed on the computer I have heard many cases on this but I could be wrong
Looking for 4-Play? Upgrade your O/S, Billy is Waiting for you.
