Win 98
Ctrl Alt Del 123:
If it's possible, you should really get Windows 2000. It's the only MS OS that Linux users preffer out of all of MS's OS's. It's a shit load more stable the 98, it no longer has System Resources, does away with VDX files for the most part, and works like a real OS.
If you are stuck with 98, how many drivers did you install? Last time I installed 98, it installed 7 drivers, and rebooted twice. I would reinstall 98 again, and this time be very gentle with 98. Only install 1 thing at a time, tread lightly, reboot, then install the next thing.
Seriously, get 2K.
Ice-9:
I do have Win2K/SuSe on my main pc.
The reason I wanted to put 98 on hte other box is that 98 is much more flexible than 2K when it comes to watching divx movies and handling multimedia.
Ctrl Alt Del 123:
Hmm... most 2K users got their multimedia working fine under 2K. What happens in 2K what you need/works better in 98?
If you wanted 2K stability and 98 multimedia, and had a hard helmet ready, you could TRY (and in, give it a shot, and then decide) Windows XP.
However, if you can get it done in Linux, use that.
sporkme:
xp is not something you can exactly try
you can't just download a ms os for free.... remember?
(tho i have dl'd 2k off gnucleus)
you can get 98 to work... it seems to fuss less if you take out everything but the video card when you do the actual install, and let the computer cool down every time you reboot
with as many mistakes it is amazing that windows even works
