Ok guys, I have crossed over as well to Mandrake.
Been learning it and loving it so far.

but I have a problem and that problem is my wife.
She didn't like linux so I dual boot it to have winxp and mandrake.

we also have zonealarm installed on our system each time zonealarm comes on all these popup windows come asking if

1) To allow Generic Host Process for win32 services to access the internet.

2) To allow Generic Host Process for win32 services to act as a server.

3) Application Layer Getway service to act as a server.

4) TCP/IP servics application to act as a server.

What is all this? another way for microsoft to keep and eye on us? or just innocent files accessing the internet. either way I don't like the idea of any file to act as a server.

If I deny access to these files I can't use the internet.

any help would be great.

Master of Reality:
is there any settings in Zone Alarm to stop it from contacting a certain site?
If there is, i recommend blocking your computer from contacting microsoft.com and blocking microsoft.com from contacting you.

To find out what those processes are, block them, then try your browser, if it still works then leave them blocked, if it doesnt work then unblock each process individually until you find out which one is the one which will let the browser onto the net.

Refalm:
The Windows NT evirement(XP=NT5) needs a TCP/IP connection to connect to the internet... Microsoft isn't spying on your computer through this way. Microsoft is spying on you through Windows Media Player... other companies are too you know...
If you want no-one to spy on your PC, follow these things:
- Use less M$ software, install alternatives and if removable, remove M$ software
- Pay a visit to LavasoftUSA and install Ad-aware and run it!
- Install ZoneAlarm Pro, much safer anyway (get the serial from Cracks.am, but do it when your wife is away (porn banners ya' know))
- No KaZaA, Comet Cursor, BONZIBuddy or Go!Zilla these companies spy on your PC...

Feel free to contact me for help, I'm bored anyway
