PC PROBLEM PLEASE HELP

My 400MHz 384Ram 12GB HD with XP always freezes, Yes I know Windows sux and so does my PC, This has been happening for a while since I had 98.2oo2,redhat,XP on this PC I recently Installed XP because my Linux kept fucking up, My PC always freezes nomatter what OS, I think its a HD problem because after everytime it freezes It says That The Primary HD wasnt found [ I hae one HD ] Any tips ? The HD is old but I havent touched it and it cant be corrupted because b4 it freezes I hear a small click..
Help ?

it sounds like a corrupt filesystem.
install Windows and destroy all existing partitions, then recreate them, and format them fully, using FAT32 or NTFS.
that oughta do it.
or re-install Linux. what precisely was it doing?

I had deleted the partition many times its not a software problem I hear this click and 5 secs later my PC wont start and wen I try it says - <--that blinks in upper right corner or it says ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
on the whole screen switching the backroung from black to grey or it says Primary HD not found ?

OK, Drill a hole in the top...run an extension chorde through it, then put on a lamp shade...VIOLA...you still have a use for your puter!!!!
No really...Try this.
Use a disk that comes with your H/D. All manufacturers make them bootable. Follow it's instructions and be sure to tell it what kind of O/S you plan to put on it and let it format and set patitions.
The install your O/S and let it reset the partitions.
Goofy I know but I just fixed a buddies coomputer that way. Usually when you hear that click...just say uh oh. it is either an actual hard warez fowl up (yes sometimes they miss bad ones before they sell it) or the drivers are all fugged. You may have not totally erased all data from all of those other O/S' you had on there and that would deffinately fug it up. If you want more detailed info on what I did to fix my friends, then just message me. If your systems a package deal the fix isn't quite so easy.

...and look what happend. ;)
After formatting your drive, it whoudn't be a bad idee to use one of those programs to check if your drive is damaged.
