You sure do laugh a lot.  IE uses a LOT of reg keys.  What I meant was, what makes this one unique?  And no, I'm not going to install Windows to find out...

i just find it really funny that some ppl would go through trouble to actually find one key when there are like probaly around 100 or so keys that are not needed for the program to work...but are jus used as spyware....basically all the microshit middleware uses some of these keys, and no i'm not gonna install winblows either to find out.....

all those reg keys are probably spyware, might as well delete the lot.

for anybody who wants to try this just go to "Start>Run" and type in "regedit", then delete away! as you can see there's a lot of spyware in there, it will all look similar to that reg key in the first post. Once you've finished, just reboot, and check out how much faster your computer runs!

I have XP Pro and don't have that key. In the key extensions, all I have is {AC9E2541-2814-11d5-BC6D-00B0D0A1DE45} which is the AIM key. If it's the Win Messenger key, you can delete it (which is what I did)

How would I know that I'm deleting something the program needs?

You have to make sure that you delete only the files under HKEY_classes_root and HKEY_local_machine. Make sure you delete them... they are mostly the spyware that MS puts in. Dont touch the other folders though.

A reg key is a string of nonsensical gibirish that is piled up in the registry.

I looked in win xp to find your internet spy thingy and i could not find it i found until extensions but thats all i used regedit.exe in my windows folder.

Normally its found in the SHell shit M$ has, to make it look important.  I deleted about 40 of them, no difference in performance, except for a little bit smoother speeds.
