"Amazing PC"
« on: 13 February 2003, 02:05 »
Inside an issue of PC Format there was a small booklet describing life with an "Amazing PC". A whole load of horse-shit about how windows xp is amazing. Here is a really funny quote from it.

"Feels safe as no-one but you can open your PC files"

Typical Microsoft: it's enough that it "feels" safe. It didn't actually say that it was safer.     Their emphasis on form over substance is so ingrained that the attitude even comes out in the words they use in their own promotionals.

Then, again, I run Linux exclusively; all M$ soft is long gone. Now that makes me feel safe: no spyware, bugware, no phone-home daemons here (so far, they've identified at least 16 in XPee), no DRM tattle-ware going through all my files, looking for suspicious multi-media files. And no problems with WinVirii
