All Things Microsoft > Microsoft as a Company
This retarded class-action "settlement."

Jeez, I love the geniuses this forum is attracting. (sigh)
It's simple: Lust for money. When you're ambitious, and the pursuit of money defines your life, It is NEVER ENOUGH. I suppose Gates would probably give us some lame company line, like how he wants to continue to be "part of a company that offers new innovations," blah blah BLAH BLAH BLAH, but really, it comes down to money.

I don't think so. Maybe in the early days it was money...nope...don't think even in the early days. It's *power* that Billy Bob truly seeks/enjoys. I honestly believe he wants to be king of terra forma, or maybe even the king of the universe as he about has terra forma locked in. You mentioned in previous posts that he has the government and schools wrapped around his little finger and I totally agree. I get sick when I think about that part of it. More so than when MS sends their auditors (software police) through our company to determine how much money we owe them for illegal licenses, then send in their thug lawyers to collect. 90% of what the government uses Windows for could be done with Linux & StarOffice. It really chaps my ass to think that a chunk of my tax dollars are going to Billy Bob because some of our government employees are lazy (I was a government employee for 15 years, the last 5 running IBM RS/6000 servers and used Linux on developer workstations. I did my part, but that was 5 years ago, things are turning to the dark side from everything I've been hearing).
My kids spend more time using Linux than they do Windows (they are grade school age) so I don't buy the arguments I've seen earlier that Linux is too hard for young kids. Up until the latest KDE distro and StarOffice 6 I would have agreed with this argument.
Peace!

Of course I meant "Terra Firma". (Laptop keyboard is too small, got me twice). And I could go on and on with reasons why our government should be running Linux over any other OS where possible.
The biggest reason is not monetary. It's open source! I certainly do not trust Microsoft and apparently the government does not if they took them to court for monopolistic tactics. I don't have a comfortable feeling that our government is depending on software without being able to check under the hood.
And then there is this little virus problem... I don't know how many emails I just received with the virus embeded in an <iframe> that seems to be the latest round of problems for MS OSs. Of course KDE-Mail laughs at these messages....

I wish I could have growned up using linux instead of Windows. I would have growned smarter, cuz Windows don't want you to learn how WINDOWS works. But linux doesn't give a shit,if you don't know how it work, well,it don't work,so LEARN!
