Stuck with XP? KILL IE!!!!!!
« on: 7 August 2002, 16:39 »
After trying to remove IE from my XP box I have finally found a solution!

Do a search for IEXPLORE.EXE and let the search include hidden and system files and you will (typically) find 3 instances. They will be in the program files folder, a folder called presomething and some other blue cloured folder. Delete them all.

Windows will bring up a dialog box asking to insert the windows XP cd but just click cancel and it goes away

Also remove MSN messenger by entering the following command into the Start >> Run command
Code: [Select]
[EDIT:: Added information]
All browsing around the computer stuff works fine.

Deleting IEXPLORE.EXE doesn't remove IE from your computer, it just deletes the browser executable. You still have alot of other IE files to remove, plus you need to remove the IE code from Windows Explorer if you really feel the need to remove IE(a 10MB app...10MB really hurts huh?)

Red-Hat 7.3s New Update agent is cool. (Better than the XPiss one)

Anyway there is a better way of fixing XP
