This is offtopic, but at the same time On topic.

I never understand the Trolls who are so gun-ho anti-linux and pro-windows. It just dosn't make sense.

It's as if the fact that linux has a steeper learning curve than windows at the moment automaticly makes it a non-option. They don't seem to understand that it is a growing OS. An OS that has grown in leeps and bounds over it's short lifespan, and an OS with potential.

Sure, perhapse right now it isn't as friendly as Windows. But can you imagine in a few years?

My point is, the argument should be use Linux, because it will only get better if you do. The more people use it, the more friendly it will get, and it will obviously surpasse windows.

I don't think anyone could provide one concrete logical argument why an OS built on Linux, and in the Open source community, woulden't surpase windows in every way possible. Because that feet is soon to come.

Sorry, you may say windows is easier now, you may currently prefer it over Linux, but you can't say Linux is a bad OS and that windoze is somehow better. Because it simply isn't.

I spend a whole day compiling linux over 3 stages just to have it say theres no network card modules built into the kernel, so i have to recompile again, isn't that fantastic?

Sounds like someone didn't follow the directions. Maybe if you had "configured" the kernel before compiling you might have those drivers you are looking for.

You're an idiot who has never used Linux.  Mandrake 9.0 installs in less than an hour.  The only hardware that Linux dosn't support is that with proprietary drivers.

In other words what you are saying is:  Windows pays hardware companys to keep their hardware from being compatible with anything but windows, and in some cases, only the lastest version of windows and I think thats great!  I just love it how M$ uses devious and illegal marketing to force me into using their inferior OS.  I think that doing everything possible to stop people from having any choice over what software they use, and then driving the software prices sky high is somthing to be lauded.

Using windows is one thing, but religiously supporting it is just plain dumb.

Tell that to my "uptime" command bozo. No, it doesn't need a "clean" thank you, only Windows needs that. What a friggin' dip shit.

Sun Sparc has its own operation system which was built for it. Thats got nothing to do with windows.

Ferrous Cranus is utterly impervious to reason, persuasion and new ideas, and when engaged in battle he will not yield an inch in his position regardless of its hopelessness. Though his thrusts are decisively repulsed, his arguments crushed in every detail and his defenses demolished beyond repair he will remount the same attack again and again with only the slightest variation in tactics. Sometimes out of pure frustration Philosopher will try to explain to him the failed logistics of his situation, or Therapist will attempt to penetrate the psychological origins of his obduracy, but, ever unfathomable, Ferrous Cranus cannot be moved

Perfect explanation of the fuckMicrosoft.com people

Ok,

This thread has degenerated into stupidity.

Ironically FiberOp beggins to resemble that Ferus Cranus crap which he apperantly think's is so whitty (even though it dosn't decline right, and uses an incorect analogy).

So Calum, dump this useless thread before it get's any longer it's takeing up to much damn space.

And FiberOp, get out of here, your just trolling and you know it.
