omg disk cleanup and defrag take forever!!!

i'm on a Celeron 500 with a 6GB 5400RPM drive. i selected disk cleanup and it said about 60mb of junk to clean (not including recycle bin). i said to clear out all the junk and it's been deleting crap for OVER 20 FREAKING MINUTES NOW!!!!
what the hell could possibly take that long!?!?!?!?

as for defrag, why does it need to defrag so badly? i was playing Diablo2 and when i jonied a game it would think for like 2 full minutes before connecting and the hard drive light was on the whole time and i could feel the HDD shaking the ground (it's only 2 feet away from my feet or so). what does Windows actually do that makes it require defrag but Linux, BSD and MacOS don't require that?

Maybe you should try turning System Restore off.

Windows eXPee Disk Defrag fucks things up like never before. I used it, let it complete, and everything was 10 times slower. My only recourse was to reformat the thing, and reinstall.
