Yet in two years, when Windows has reached the "free" status that Cue:Cat once had at Radio Shack (see also: $0 purchase), whose source will be open to inspection by prying eyes, and whose will still be a mystery to all but the key players in the Microsoft cartel?  Despite Microsoft's attempts to obfuscate the matter, this isn't simply an issue of "free beer" here; it's an issue of "freedom to innovate" and "freedom to investigate."

Edit: ...but expect them to milk the "free beer" angle for all it's worth.  I half-expect to see them team up with Bawls Guarana for Windows FVWSI (Final Verson We Swear It) : Wired Edition.
