Just recieved my pirated copy of XP pro!!!
« on: 28 February 2002, 05:52 »
Guess what.  I'm not going to install it.  I'm just going to throw it away, or let it sit on a shelf for the rest on eternity.  Installing xp would just make my computer one step closer to being Bill Gates's slave machine.

I can't fucking believe how much money people are paying for XP.  They don't even know what it is or what it does.  They just think 'oh ho, XP, its Microsoft and its new so it must be good, I gotta get it duhhh'.  All people are doing is paying Microsoft to take over their computer!  I can't believe how dumb people are!

Just make sure you keep that box on the top shelf, far away from any computers.. You never know, it might climb down and install itself in the middle of the night... Worse yet, after installing itself it might install Outlook and WMP.

Jeez, you people are REALLY anti-MS. They finally release an OS that has the stability of 2k, plus has the software/gaming support of win9x. I have a copy of Win2k Advanced server running in my room, it runs a web server, an FTP server, and a mail server. Its actually faster than when I had RH 7.1 installed on it.

Random Story: We had a power outtage a while back, when I ran Win2kpro on my main machine and RH 7.1 on my server. My main machine rebooted, scanned itself, and loaded back into 2k. It had no loss of data integrity and was fully functional. The RH 7.1 box was FUBAR and had to be formated.

That's odd, I've probably got the worst power problems in my house than I've seen anywhere else.  And I have right now around 8 RedHat machines at my house and have been running Linux for close to 10 years now and have *never* had to reformat after a power outtage or spike.  I run many times more than that at work but everything is on UPS/Generator so I don't have a power problem there.

And you are right, there are a lot of us here at fuckmicrosoft.com that hate M$.  What are the odds of that?

Software has nothing to do with HARDWARE reaction to a power surge. Stuff gets screwd up in an otage or spike, because of the hardware malfunctioning due to severe fluctuations of power. Thats why you by a UPS and other such protective devices.

Not quite true. However, a journaling file system, such as ext3 or Reiser (sp?) both of which are available for Linux, can certainly help in these situations.

And they use it to cram MS messenger, MSIE, MS Media Player, Passport, MSN Network (through their  completely superfluous MSNExplorer) and a host of other stuff down the collective consumer throats.
Plus they put this activation scheme in here, inconveniencing the consumer in the belief that people are robbing MS blind thorugh piracy. I  paid for my MS software, even when I had the opportunity to "borrow" copies from work.  The activation process is a complete insult to me.

Staroffice 5.2 won't install on it.  It installed on every other win32 platform.  How much you want to bet that MS broke this on purpose?
