Other Identies on Outlook Express
« on: 1 December 2002, 03:53 »
For reasons I don't wish go into here, I think that a (minor) family member is getting "dangerous", perhaps "predatory" e-mails.  I don't have their password for their account - and I've tried the search through hidden files, as described on the home page (couldn't make it work).  I'm quite concerned and I would like to nip this in the bud, if possible.  Any ideas on how to look at their e-mails would be appreciated.
If this is not an acceptable practice, given the circumstances, please don't flame me - I'm trying to look out for their best interest.
Thanks all
Pariah

Just curious. How do you know they are getting predatory emails if you don't have access to their account? I don't allow my kids to have internet mail accounts that I don't have complete access to (at least at home, can't control what access they may have at school). They can get that kind of freedom when they are no longer minors and are out on their own. Until then, it's a dictatorship in my house.
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

who are they getting these emails from? can't you get in touch with them directly if you know what's going on? also, if these emails are of an unsavoury nature, why can't you just ask your kids what's going on? and get them to show you the emails?

just because lookout express is full of holes doesn't mean anybody here will have taken the time to figure out what they are btw, not that that's the most important issue here...

the easiest way to get their passwords is with a big stick.

I would get a little stick and just start poking them in the ribs with it until they start talking.
