The first cardinal sin of Windows XP is in assuming that you are a fucking idiot, and then removing the ability to get past the dummy boxes.

However, it doesn't stop there. Windows XP has at least one MAJOR security hole that could be exploited for a kinda "Code Red worm on steroids" effect (and more maliciously). That's one big problem.

One of the most disturbing, though, is the integration of things like .NET and Passport into the operating system. In case you haven't heard, .NET is MS's vision of a proprietary internet that they control. XP is designed from the ground up to start taking control out of your hands and placing it in Microsoft's. Most of the "bundled software" plays at least some small role in this, in addition to being really fucking annoying and hard to use, not to mention impossible to bypass. The .NET vision is the reason I am moving to a Microsoft-free machine after using their shit for so long.
I can't get over you until you get out from under him.

I also found that it is less compatible with software than winblows 2000 is. that's right. My Win2K machine can run more software better than my XP machine, They are the same machine, I use dual boot just to test XP

With Win XP try deleting applications you don't happen to want, without following an obscure protocol, so that you can use your own preferences, say Opera instead of I.E., etc. and see what happens.

Suggestion:  Prepare to reinstall XP.  There's only one "right" way to trash any of the integrated apps.

Changing the default app. from WMP to a third party MP3 player, another example, isn't as difficult, but it isn't the little chore that Bob and Mary Aoluser are going to have a clue about how to do it.

The rigors of Passport and .Net are bad enough (didn't sign up?  not to worry, you'll be reminded over and over again until you do) but the "integrated" (can you say, locked in?) selection of Micro$loth applications is bad enough that the DOJ should be able to split the Evil Empire into three dozen pieces after fining the original 20 or 30 Billion but don't hold your breath waiting for it to happen.

It's because Microsoft has the DOJ and most of America over a barrel. They can just stop supporting their crapass majority operating system and watch as the world plunges into chaos.

I'm not sure why this thread is in the Mac OS forums.  Moving it to a more appropriate area . . .

There's another almost identical thread in this forum that i just replied to, why are the people who ask "what's so bad about Windows?" so unable to read the other posts to see if their answer is already here?
