Media Player 9

(1/2) > >>

rdegenna:
Our tech support people installed office xp on my computer without my permission.  With it came media player 9.  I haven't gone through the setup routine, but it's on the hard drive.

Is there a way to get rid of it so that I can go back to something less intrusive, like ver 6?

If you have any ideas, please email me at [email protected]

Thanks.

Ray

Nope you are pretty much screwed.  Thanks go to microsoft for violating their own rule about how applications should have their own uninstaller.

There is Media Player Classic the look of 6.x but can do more modern things and play any video that has a codec for it (WMP 7-9, Divx, xviD, Quicktime etc..) as well as DVD, VCD... :-P

site is being re-done, link is a Google Cache (download at sf.net)

Only way that I know of is to use the System Restore feature to rollback the PC. It's supposed to create a restore point when it's installed, unless your tech people told it not to.

short answer: you can't. this is the stock answer for many microsoft related problems. in fact...
