In other news, Hon. Harold Zoidberg today found Microsoft to be in violation of a long-standing trademark held by the AMW (Associated Makers of Windows) used prior to the 18th century to manufacture windows for consumer usage.  "Those Redmond bastards were just WAITING for something like our product to come along, then *pow*.  Well guys, it's been a lovely fight, but the game is over," the host of AMW is reported as having said.

So Lindows is now Linspire. How cute.

By the way, not too far from where I live is a place called Epson Street. Perhaps Epson should sue New York City for copyright infringement?

I think Lindows sold out.  They took alot of money and got Windows Media Player licencing in exchange for changing their name.

And what does Microsoft get out of it?

Nobody challenges their stupid trademarking of an industry standard computing term.

It's a bad precedent.

well... if it comes down to changing your companies name, or being sued out of existence.

I would pick the name-change.

I'd pay to see that battle.  Epson sues Gotham over copyright infringement, and Gotham countersues for a finding of prior art.  Break out the gumdrops and popcorn children, this is going to be a long one.
