Hi,
I work in a web design studio and we are trying to test the sites we create in as many browsers as possible...
Few days ago I have downloaded Microsuck IE 5.0 for unix (they have even put their outlook into it-- can't even imagine how out can it look  )...
Can anyone tell, is it possible to install it in Linux (we have RedHat 7.0 and Mandrake 8.0)...

Thanks!

2Webmaster.
by the way, you've forgotten to add Lynx to your Browser Alternatives list    Think it's the best thing to view the news sites.

I can't imagine why you would want to test IE on UNIX.  How many people are running it? 1?  I didn't realize they were still trying to port it.  I installed it on Sparc/Solaris about 2 years ago when they first ported it (for giggles).  It did nothing but lock up when I tried to run it.

Test IE on Mac and MS,  Test Netscape/Mozilla on all platforms,  Test Opera on all platforms, test Konqueror/Galeon on Linux.  And if you want me to be happy you will also test Lynx on Linux.

Wow ie for Unix.......thats just wrong.

Is the source code in a tar-ball or are you just installing a binary?

The general rule to install from source (tar ball) is:

  ./configure
  make
  make install

Thats about it unless you have some option like
 prefix=/home/apache

Heh heh!  Source code for IE, that's funny...  MS doesn't give *any* source away (they might have to release IE source soon though if the States are successful in the monopoly case).

ROFL! I almost choked on my breakfast....
