Thats funny, I thought xmovie could play these formats just fine. Does Red Hat no longer come with xmovie?

Red Hat pulled all MP3 en/decoders out of v8 because of a re-wording on the MP3 Patent Holder's License.

Basically it was a misunderstanging; but an important one: MP3 is not "free as in speech", but right now it is "free as in beer".  Of course that could change....

Like I said - Ogg all the way. MP3 is a proprietary format for the RIAA to charge people with - in the future at least.
