Browsers for classics!!
« on: 26 January 2004, 10:50 »
Besides iCab and IE, are there any other browsers that run on classic macs (9.1/9.2)??

Netscape doesn't, mozilla doesn't and opera is buggy..
Try not!
Do, or do not.
There is no try.

yeah, but if he's running 9.2, then there's a 95% chance he's got a G3 or better. Moz runs just fine

PowerMac 5500/250 with Mac OS 9.1 and 128 MB of RAM. Running the latest (7.something) of Netscape is kind of slow.

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.2.1/mozilla-macos9-1.2.1-full.bin

Moz 1.2.1 for Mac OS 9.x, needs StuffIt Expander 4.5 or higher, download is about 15.5mb.

Dug this thread up...I'm on my aunt's beige G3 300Mhz, 320MB RAM, OS 8.6.  All it has is IE 5.1/Mac...ugh.  I wonder if that Mozilla 1.2 will work...

Ok, Moz 1.2.1 doesn't work well on OS 8.6.  I'll try to dig up another version.

search google for WaMCom, the "Web and Mail Communicator"

it's a project to create a streamlined, optimized Mozilla distro. They have a Moz 1.3 install for OS 9
