You might want to try Amaya. It is visual, just like Frontpage, and is made by the W3C consortium. It produces standard HTML code, and is available for Linux, Mac OS and Windows.

There probably is a similar program but all I know is Mozilla has an HTML composer built in.

this amaya thing interests me.  I like Dreamweaver, but it is too complex and it doesn write strict html 4 code.

However, I can't find an OSX version on their site.  I see the Windows and Linux but where is OSX?  It says its for OSX on their main page, but in the Distributions page it is no where to be found.

EDIT Just found out u have to use Fink to get it on OSX, that would make me assume I would need to use X11.  That kind of stinks... and I am using Panther and Fink isn't updated for Panther yet.  Guess I will have to wait.

Very interesting comments. Now just wait for the men in white suits to come and make you try on a nice, comfortable jacket. And then we can bring you back home to see your little friends.

as mentioned before mozilla also has a WYSIWYG html editor in it and so does openoffice.org, just to give more options.
