I din know where to post this so dun hurt me if its in the wrong category, but im graduating from high school soon and im getting a fresh new comp for graduation, thing is i dun want a Microsoft (excuse me ...Microsuck] OS's on it. So i wanted to know which OS's you would recommend. i know there is a big list on the site, and 3 category blocks on this forum for mac and linux and stuff, but i need to know which is the best NON- miscrosoft OS's that u can suggest that is compatible with most computer games. Again i apologize if this is in the wrong forums, dont bite me head off, and if u do save me my trachea..i need that.

There isn't one, unfortunately.  Both MacOS and Linux have some game support, more so for Mac, but it isn't comprehensive.

definately get a Mac.  You will be glad if you do.

it just works.

no libglx1.4-4r6.so.2 to hunt down for a game to run.

linux really isn't ready for prime-time quite yet.

if you want to run linux, go ahead, I can help you out with any problems you might encounter

I agree with Sauron. Get a Mac, you won't regret it.  That's what I'm going to do as well.

My suggest would be.. get linux, and you will forget all games. When i had windoze installed, i played games much, but then i got linuxoze installed in second comp (shitty with integrated video) I allways choose this box to use. Its fun to use much console, cool network tools, and more stuff.  Now i use windoze only for document writing with word, lol my Amd1600+ with geforce 5600

Enough cool games to play on Linux

why am i leaving windows?

not many reasons, 1) there is that privacy thing with the logs and stuff, then there is that peice of crap Internet Explorer. i hate that thing. i installed it like 6 months ago...crap is still on my computer  grrrr.

other than that i want the best for my comptuer and i know windows wont be that.

All those games that can be played on Linux i already had/have and dnt like them.

I still dont understand what makes one better than the other thats why i asked for your opinon but its hard to tell so i might have to do some research

Ok you fucked up on that one. Never once during any of my linux game installs have I ever had to find any obscure OpenGL file that you made up out of the top of your head. Do not lie about linux, this frustrates me more than anything else, people who lie to make it look bad. Installing UT2003, Quake 3 arena, or any other game that has been ported to linux is super easy.

Unfortunately not many games have been ported to linux, so WineX a windows emulator has come to the recue. It is just as easy to install games using WineX, as it is on windows.

no shit I made it up, I was giving an example of module deps that have sent me hunting on google.

I use linux and windows, and I think (an opinion) that linux still needs some work.

you came in and flamed me for saying that.

like classic Lucas games.

X Wing.

'nuff said.

X Wing and Dark Forces = 2 of the greatest games EVER MADE.

If you went up against Mohc in his death armor and lived, you were a badass to be reckoned with.
