And actually you dont need the prefrences toolbar. It works fine if you just hack the Mozilla Source, I did that a while ago.

All you need is VIM

Boy, you like to do things the hard way. It's actually much simpler than that. All you have to do is add this line to your "~/.mozilla/userid/*/prefs.js" file:

Which is all the tool bar does when you select a different user agent.
