IE question

ACtually, I agree that people shouldn't be asking for MS software help at an Anti-MS site. However, since you people claim that other stuff is so much better but lack the knowledge of how to properly do stuff with MS software makes it look like the only reason you use other software is because you don't know how to properly operate the MS software. If you don't know the software that you hate how can you possibly make an educated claim that the other stuff is better? You have to know both pieces of software inside and out before you can fairly compare them.

Actually I used Windows for a long time, and I still know Windows better than Linux.
I can see the strengths of Linux however and compare them to what Windows has to offer.
This is why I stick with Linux. (even if I'm posting this from Win2K atm)

Everyone runs into problems when he/she starts using software/OS, but ffs do a little effort on your own, then if you can't find a solution on your own ask around, but judging by the Windows questions that keep popping up I seriously doubt any of the Windoids even tried to find an answer before asking questions on the wrong forum.

I never said that I am great. It is the truth that hardley anybody here will actually help people out(unless the person needing help is using what *YOU WANT* them to use). Over at places like Neowin people can actually get help for about anything they want because Neowin has a HUGE mixed community. Over here people will only get help for non-MS stuff(stuff that 90%+ of the world uses). Me giving him the correct help for his problem is not wasting his time with BS. Telling him to get another browser is wasting his time with BS.
no. it is the exact solution that i used to overcome the exact problem that he has.

Maybe he wants IE
well he deserves no help from me then. it would be wasted anyway. anybody who wants IE is truly beyond help.

or needs IE.
like i need somebody to break into my house and steal my television? who needs IE? and for what purpose? there are a shitload of better browsers out there, even putting the spyware/bloatware/system integration issues aside.

Maybe he doesnt want to run into all of the rendering problems, site incompatabilites, the bugginess, etc.  of other browsers.
maybe you made all that up and you only repeat it to convince yourself you're not mad.

BTW, the only time you see me post BS at IHA is when I post in MacInTrash(the forum dedicated to BS). I don't post at IHA very often anyways so you my friend are an idiot.

glad to hear you're still referring to us as people, and me as a friend, it must be still early in the day in the US. however i don't see how this random collection of your opinions transfers the status of 'master idiot' from you to me.

I think when people come to this forum asking for help with windows products we should help them in the best way we can.  The thing about windows apps is, even if you fix up the problem they are asking for help with, the apps are generally so bug ridden, they will just come back with another problem the next day.  Unlike windowsbbs, we here go well beyond fixing just what is asked, we go farther and provide long term solutions.  To me, that is real help.

Hubert, if you are still with us, you mentioned that there were reasons that you had to use IE.  There are many people who believe they are forced to use a certain application, but actually are not, rather they are simply unaware of the alternatives.  Mozilla can do everything IE can except maybe run microsoft's specific software that they keep secret.  It can even disguise itself as IE.  But I won't speak as I don't know what it is that is holding you to IE.  Could you please explain it to us?

Which is, of course, informing them of alternatives to M$ products.

I know all about M$ soft, having used it for a helluva lot longer than I should have    I finally ditched it in favor of Linux last year when that WPA crap came out instaed of doing an "upgrade" to XP. And, quite frankly, I've had enough of M$ and their bloat, bug, spy, nag ware to last me for quite a few more years. I hope to never again have some GD cartoon paperclip telling me "It looks like you're writing a letter...", or yet another idiot box pop up whenever I try to do even the simplest task, or a GUI that looks like it came straight off a toy computer, etc., ad infinitum. Or have to constantly fight an OS that tries to get me to sign up for services I don't want, and that refuses to take "no" for an answer.

Windows: Yyyyyyeeeeeeecccccchhhhhh!

I agree, which is why i recently have completly killed Windows off my system. I was sick of it, even 2000. So far so good.
