2. General Questions

2.1. What is KOffice?

KOffice is an integrated office suite for the KDE (K Desktop Environment) consisting of several applications like a word processor and a spread sheet. Based on the KParts component model KOffice offers a lot of interoperability between all its components.

From http://www.koffice.org

Kofice only runs on stable systems

UnknownQ:
KOffice only runs on Linux, if you do want something that isn't designed by a monopoly check out OpenOffice (openoffice.org).

Why use Koffice when you can use...

openoffice isn't bad either if you feel like being treasonous toward bill gates - you tread a fine line when you don't use his programs.  Remember, he's watching you. (and I like it)

A few reasons not to use M$ Office :
- Veeeery expensive
- It's a huge pile of bloatware with lots of security issues
- It's like a magnet for virri
- It's a proprietary format which handles no other format than its own
- It offers nothing more than OpenOffice
- Program that runs in background to synchronize all Office documents (I forgot how it's called, it's been so long since I've used M$ Office), constant disk accesses when you need it the least, like when you play a Q3 war online .....
