Oh yes you can. Just turn off "telnetd" on all of your servers like I did.

I havn't allowed telnetd on my boxes for years, but my people talk to other computers more than my servers. I have told the managers of those other computers about the dangers of keeping telnetd open, especially since packet sniffers have been a chronic problem on one of the subnets I work on, but they don't listen to me. Finally, the University mainframes will drop telnetd in December, four years late IMHO. Perhaps then they will get the message.

I think linux is really more like the WRC. (Twin?)Turbocharged super-light 4-bangers doing everything nascar racers cant. Such as making right turns. Or jumps. Or driving offroad in rain, snow, mud... (I can't wait to get my hands on a Lancer Evo7 or WRX :D )

I agree about rally racing, but there's just something awe-inspiring about an F-1 race in a pounding downpour with 75 foot rooster-tails behind 600 HP racing cars going around a road course at better than 150 MPH; I'd like to see NASCAR try to race in a heavy dew; it would be an instant demolition derby.
Actually, my analogy was about the skill level needed to use XP verses any Linux; an idiot can use XP; you've got to have some skills to use Linux.
